Abstract

A new UPLC method for the determination of vitamin E in barley cereals is proposed. The method shows higher sensitivity and lower limits of detection and quantification than the previous HPLC methods. The method was applied to various spring barley varieties. Although it was not possible to separate all vitamin E isomers due to the reverse phase used, the rapid and inexpensive method is suitable for a long-term monitoring of vitamin E in barley and other cereals.
