Starting Production of Synthetic Hydrotalcite in the Czech Republic

Abstract

Synthetic hydrotalcite-like compounds (layered double hydroxides) are utilized in many practical applications, such as in polymer processing, heterogeneous catalysis, separation processes, and pharmacy. The methods used for preparation of hydrotalcite and hydrotalcite-like compounds are summarised in the paper. A new technology of production of synthetic hydrotalcite, based on coprecipitation of sulfate solutions, suitable for PVC stabilizer compositions was developed and tested on a pilot-plant scale. The product of required quality was obtained.
