Potential Oncomarkers by Proteomic, Metabolomic and Metabolonomic Methods
Abstract
Early detection and diagnosis of a tumor is most important for successful treatment of cancer patients. Many cancer markers are used in clinical testing, but most of them are not equally specific and sensitive in the detection of early stages of the disease. In recent years, with the development of “omic” methods, new cancer cell characteristics were found, which can be used as new, more specific and sensitive oncomarkers. Some of the most perspective markers, discovered mainly by proteonomic, metabolomic and metabolonomic methods, are tenascin C, homocysteine, some nucleosides and fluorophores. The markers could be helpful in construction of biosensors for more rapid, effective and cheaper testing.Downloads
