Abstract

The development of terminology in metrology in the last decade is discussed. The role of International Vocabulary in Metrology (3rd ed., VIM 3) and its Czech translation as paramount normative documents is highlighted. Some terms from VIM 3 are tabulated, focusing on those most likely to be encountered in analytical and clinical laboratories. Some quality assurance terms are also added. The impact of new concepts and new Czech equivalents of the terms is discussed.
