Abstrakt

Many drugs have an unpleasant taste, mostly bitter. This could lead to a limitation of their therapeutic effect after oral administration. Therefore, taste masking of drugs is the key factor how to improve the patient's compliance that is closely connected with therapeutic success and therapy effectiveness and also with the commercial success of the medicine. The presented article explains the mechanism of taste perception and generally defines the taste of drugs. It further brings a brief overview of taste masking methods used in pharmaceutical technology and describes their use on specific examples from research and practice.
